Did You Know?

  • DIY Costume Idea: Unicorn - dress yourself in a pastel-colored hooded sweatsuit (or footy pajamas with a beanie hat for small children). Add an oval of contrasting-colored fabric to the front torso, and two ears made from felt to the top of the hood/hat. Buy some rainbow-colored yarn and create a mane and tail. The unicorn horn can be made out of cardboard and then covered by winding a white satin ribbon around it in a spiral pattern.
  • DIY Costume Idea: Mad Hatter - sport a solid-colored shirt that's a bright color, and on top of it don a buttoned green jacket. Take vertically striped work pants, and cut them to knee length in a crescent shape. Sport dress shoes, but make them look old and dirty. Put on a large top hat, with a tag that says "10/6" tucked into the band. Slip on two different multicolored socks. Also, around your body make sure you have a belt of spools of thread. Put on fingerless gloves. Lastly, put on white face paint and paint some orange marks around the eyes.
  • Historical Costuming: Since women were not actors, it was the men's job to portray female characters. Masks hid masculine characters.
